Kaminey

Movie - Kaminey

Rating - 2.5/5

Cast - Shahid Kapoor (identical twins), Priyanka Chopra

Plot - Twin brothers who dislike each other after their father's death are brought together by a twist of fate. Charlie (Shahid no. 1) gets in a mess when he steals drugs from the mumbai police, who were about to deliver it to druglord. Guddu (Shahid no. 2), on the other hand gets into his own set of troubles when he decides to marry Sweety (Priyanka), who is the sister of a hard core mumbai ganglord and a wanabe politician. The fate brings them together when the ganglord catches Charlie and Guddu falls in hands of the cops, and an exchange is planned between the two.

My Take - Sure the plot wasn't an innovative one and i could see the audience yawning beside me, still it wasn't all that bad. Songs were good and so was the acting by both Shahid and Priyanka, although that's more or less what I liked in the movie. The director seemed to have put in a lot of efforts in bringing each character to the fore, which is appreciated, but in experimenting with abstractness (in scenes such as the one where Charlie is racing on the track)in the script, he really could not achieve much. Action sequences were half hearted and a lot was left for audience to figure out (i could hear people ask what's going on now), not my idea of great direction. Although don't take my word for it, go and see for yourself, it surely a one time watch.

Movie Review - LUCK

Have been thinking of writing for long and now seemed like a good time coz i got nothing better to do. So here's my first movie review.

Movie - Luck
My Rating - 2/5 (not a bad 1 time watch)
Cast - Imran Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Mithun, Shruti Hassan

Plot - Sanjay Dutt (aka 'Mousa bhai') handpicks a group of people, who are believed to be more lucky than others, and puts them through mortal tasks offering the winner big money in return. He instead wants to build a gambling empire by inviting bets on who will survive through each task. Imran Khan (aka 'Ram') happens to be the luckiest of all, who makes it to the finish with utmost ease saving the beautiful Shruti (aka Ayesha/Natasha) on several ocassions.

My take - Although an interesting plot, the movie failed to impress me. The first hour/half was wasted on building a perfectly simple plot, a task that could have been accompolished in a third of time, while the rest of the movie felt like a reality series, full of elimination and money tasks (remember Roadies). Dialogues were poorly written and action sequences that could make you laugh...need i say more. I think this movie is going to need a lot of LUCK to make it through 2nd week.
